The Kogi State Government says security operatives have rescued victims abducted during Tuesday’s attack on a school in Odo-Ekina, Dekina Local Government Area.
The victims, including the school principal, a National Examinations Council (NECO) official and two students, were freed following a coordinated security operation launched shortly after the incident.
Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, said sustained pressure from security forces forced the kidnappers to abandon the victims and flee into the forest.
He noted that security personnel remain in the area as operations continue to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The state government commended the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, local vigilantes and other security agencies for their swift response and professionalism during the rescue mission.
Governor Usman Ododo also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for directing security agencies to provide the necessary support for the operation.
The rescued victims are currently undergoing medical evaluation and debriefing with security agencies, while authorities continue efforts to bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
