President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that all available lawful measures are being deployed to secure the safe return of teachers and pupils abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a statement issued on Monday, the President said security agencies had been directed to intensify rescue efforts using both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies to ensure the victims are returned safely.

According to him, the rescue operation will remain intelligence-driven, coordinated and sustained until all abducted persons regain their freedom.

“Our rescue efforts will be intelligence-led, careful, coordinated and sustained. We will deploy every lawful tool available, both kinetic and non-kinetic, to ensure our children and teachers are safely returned home,” the President stated.

Tinubu also expressed condolences to the family of a teacher killed during the attack, assuring that the sacrifice of the deceased would not be forgotten.

He stressed that children should never be exposed to the trauma of abduction, noting that no parent should be forced to endure such an experience.

The President reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to ongoing rescue efforts and disclosed that a specialised security unit with advanced rescue capabilities had been deployed to strengthen operations in the affected communities.

He further revealed that, in collaboration with the Oyo State Government, plans were underway to recruit 1,000 forest guards to enhance surveillance and security across forest corridors frequently exploited by criminal elements.

Tinubu added that a request for the establishment of a military base in the area was receiving urgent attention as part of broader efforts to improve security and prevent future attacks.

The President’s remarks come amid growing concern over the abduction of teachers and pupils from schools in Esiele and Yawota communities, with security agencies continuing efforts to secure their release and restore confidence among residents.
