The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has met with fellow party member Mohammed Hayatu-Deen in Lagos, with both leaders agreeing to work together for the future of the party and the country.
The meeting followed the ADC presidential primary, which produced Atiku as the party’s flagbearer ahead of the 2027 general election.
Atiku disclosed the outcome of the meeting in a post on his X account, describing the discussions as frank and productive.
“Earlier today, I visited my brother and fellow aspirant in the ADC presidential primaries, Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, at his residence in Lagos. Our discussions on the state of our nation and party were frank and productive. We resolved to work together in the challenging task of reclaiming and rebuilding our beloved country for the greater good of our people,” he stated.
A video shared by the former vice president showed both men exchanging greetings and holding discussions during the visit.
The meeting marks one of the first public engagements between Atiku and Hayatu-Deen since the conclusion of the ADC presidential primary and comes as party leaders move to strengthen unity ahead of the next phase of the party’s campaign activities.
Among those who accompanied Atiku on the visit were former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and Lagos politician Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
The development is seen as part of ongoing efforts within the ADC to consolidate support and build a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections.
