The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has condoled the Nigerian Air Force over an accident involving a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.
The accident occurred on October 5, 2026, while the aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos.
In a statement signed by its Director-General, Captain Alex Badeh Jr., the NSIB expressed sympathy with the families, friends and colleagues of the victims.
The Bureau also extended its thoughts to Search and Rescue teams working at the accident site.
The NSIB says it is ready to assist the Nigerian Air Force upon request with any technical support required in investigating the accident.
The support could include the deployment of investigators and the use of the Bureau’s Flight Safety Laboratory for the recovery, readout and analysis of flight recorder data.
