Vice President Kashim Shettima says President Bola Tinubu deserves commendation rather than condemnation for implementing economic reforms that have strengthened Nigeria’s economy.
Speaking at the Delta Economic and Investment Summit in Asaba, Shettima said the reforms have reversed capital flight and increased the country’s foreign reserves from about 3 billion dollars to 52 billion dollars despite global economic challenges.
He also praised Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo for supporting the Federal Government’s reform agenda and helping Nigerians understand the need for the policies.
The Vice President described the growing number of investment summits across states as evidence of healthy competition and noted that increased allocations to sub-national governments have created a stronger foundation for development.
Also speaking, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced that the state government has set aside 100 million dollars as viability gap funding to attract and de-risk new investments.
He added that more than 12,000 hectares of farmland have been earmarked for agricultural development, while the state’s coastline offers significant opportunities for investment in the marine economy.
