Ivory Coast forward Elye Wahi has been granted permission to enter Canada after an earlier decision barred him from travelling to the country ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The OGC Nice striker had initially been denied entry due to an ongoing investigation linked to an alleged match-fixing incident during Nice’s goalless Ligue 1 draw against FC Metz last month.
Despite the travel restrictions, Wahi featured in Ivory Coast’s opening World Cup match, playing 56 minutes in the team’s 1-0 victory over Ecuador before being substituted.
The Ivorian Football Federation has now confirmed that the 23-year-old has received clearance to travel and will be available for selection for the remainder of the tournament.
The development comes as a major boost for Ivory Coast, who are aiming to build on their winning start to the competition.
While investigations into the alleged match-fixing case remain ongoing, Wahi’s clearance means he can now fully rejoin the squad in Canada and participate in upcoming fixtures.
His availability strengthens Ivory Coast’s attacking options as the Elephants continue their quest for a place in the knockout stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
