Iran’s national football team left a message of peace, respect and friendship in their dressing room following their goalless draw against Belgium in a Group G match at the Los Angeles Stadium.
The handwritten note was released by the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran after the match and conveyed a message of unity amid ongoing tensions involving Iran and the United States, one of the co-hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In the message, the Iranian delegation expressed appreciation to the city of Los Angeles for its hospitality and thanked supporters who had stood by the team throughout their opening two matches of the tournament.
The team stated that it arrived in Los Angeles with pride, competed with honour and would leave with dignity.
The note also emphasised the values of peace, mutual respect and friendship among nations, while calling for greater understanding and unity through sport.
Iran’s gesture attracted attention following the conclusion of the match, with many observers describing it as a positive message highlighting football’s role in promoting goodwill and bringing people together beyond political and cultural differences.
The result against Belgium means Iran remain unbeaten after their opening two matches of the tournament, boosting their hopes of progressing to the knockout stage for the first time.
The team will now turn its attention to its final group match as it continues its campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
