The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening indigenous engineering capacity, stressing that skills development, innovation and technology adoption are critical to building a globally competitive engineering sector.
The position was highlighted at the 2026 Engineering Conference held in Abuja, where industry leaders, policymakers, academics and engineering professionals gathered to discuss the future of engineering practice in Nigeria.
Speaking at the conference, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB identified skills development, technology adoption and increased local participation as key priorities for advancing Nigeria’s engineering sector and supporting sustainable industrial growth.
The Board also showcased its local content initiatives, technological advancements and capacity-building programmes during the conference exhibition, drawing participation from government institutions, industry players, academia and professional associations.
The conference concluded with plenary sessions and a family forum focused on professional development, knowledge sharing and the future of engineering practice in Nigeria.
Stakeholders at the event maintained that sustained investment in Nigerian talent, innovation and engineering expertise will be vital to achieving long-term economic development and strengthening local content in the country’s industrial sector.
