Nasarawa Police Intercept 174 Rounds Of AK-47 Ammunition

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a suspect allegedly found in possession of 174 rounds of 7.62mm AK-47 live ammunition along the Toto–Abaji Road.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel.

According to the statement, the suspect, identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, was apprehended during a routine patrol by police operatives conducting security operations along the route.

The command said the ammunition was recovered during the operation, adding that the suspect is currently assisting investigators with efforts to uncover the network behind the illegal movement of the ammunition.

Police authorities noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the source and intended destination of the recovered ammunition as well as identify other persons connected to the case.

The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating arms trafficking and other criminal activities across the state.

He stressed that the police remain resolute in their efforts to prevent the proliferation of illegal weapons and ensure the safety of residents.

The commissioner also assured the public that sustained security operations would continue across Nasarawa State to curb criminal activities and maintain law and order.

The command urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to enhance public safety.
