The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested seven suspected bandits during intelligence-led operations targeting criminal networks in Bagudo Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the suspects were apprehended on June 5, 2026, during coordinated operations in the Soda Forest axis and surrounding border communities.
Police said operatives of the Mobile Police Force intercepted three suspects travelling on a motorcycle along the Illo–Lolo Road following credible intelligence reports.
The suspects were allegedly moving from the Soda Forest area to nearby border communities to procure food supplies for bandits operating within forest hideouts. A motorcycle believed to have been used in the operation was recovered.
In a separate operation along the Bakin Ruwa–Ka’oje corridor, security operatives arrested four additional suspects as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the area.
The police said investigations are ongoing to determine the suspects’ level of involvement in criminal activities and any possible connection to recent security incidents, including the killing of three officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, described the arrests as a major breakthrough in the command’s campaign against banditry and other violent crimes.
He commended the officers involved in the operations and expressed appreciation to members of the public for providing credible intelligence that aided the arrests.
The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing aimed at restoring peace and security across affected communities, while urging residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies with useful information.
Police authorities said the suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
