Delta Police Arrest Suspected Gun Runner, Recover Ammunition, Adulterated Beverages

The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspects in separate operations in Agbor and Warri, recovering ammunition and quantities of beverages suspected to be adulterated.

Operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Ubulu-Uku arrested 28-year-old Happiness Clifford over suspected gun-running activities in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.

Police say a search of a suspected hideout led to the recovery of ten live cartridges concealed inside a bucket.

During preliminary investigation, the suspect allegedly identified her husband, Clifford Okoro, as a major supplier of the ammunition. Police say efforts are underway to apprehend him.

In a separate operation, officers conducting a stop-and-search along the Warri-Agbarho Expressway intercepted a Toyota Sienna carrying quantities of “Gbefun Hot Drink” suspected to be adulterated and arrested the 44-year-old driver.

Further investigation led officers to a warehouse at Lower Ginuwa in Warri, where more of the suspected adulterated drink, other beverages and a Suzuki Shuttle bus loaded with similar products were recovered.

Police say the suspected operators of the warehouse fled when they sighted the officers, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend them and determine the source and distribution network of the products.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives and directed that investigations continue to identify and arrest other suspects linked to both cases.
