The Department of State Services, DSS, has arrested a man identified as Moferewa Maiye for allegedly impersonating an operative of the Service in Abuja.
Maiye was arrested on Wednesday at his hideout around NITEL Junction, along Adetokunbo Ademola Way in Wuse II, following intelligence received by the DSS.
He was reportedly wearing a DSS tactical uniform and carrying a fake pistol at the time of his arrest.
A security source says the suspect allegedly used the uniform and fake weapon to intimidate commuters and motorists and extort money from them.
During interrogation, Maiye reportedly claimed that the DSS uniform and kit belonged to his late brother, Monday Maiye, whom he said was a personnel of the Service.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue into how he obtained the uniform and kit, as well as how long he may have been involved in alleged impersonation and extortion.
