Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has presented land allocation letters to 98 communities in the Ito-Omu New Town project area as part of efforts to promote planned and inclusive development along the Lekki-Epe corridor.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the allocation recognises the rights of indigenous communities and ensures they benefit directly from development in the area.

He explained that the initiative followed consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders, which began in 2020.

The governor also pledged continued investment in roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure to support the development of the new town and surrounding communities.

Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Lands Bureau, Kamar Olowosago, said the exercise would ensure indigenous communities remain key stakeholders and direct beneficiaries of the Ito-Omu New Town project.

He described the presentation of the allocation letters as the beginning of the implementation phase of the project.
