The Oyo State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its fight against crime with the arrest of suspected members of rival cult groups during intelligence-led operations across the state.
The command said the operations led to the recovery of firearms and other dangerous weapons, while one of the suspects confessed to being a factional leader of a notorious confraternity.
Speaking while parading the suspects at the Oyo State Police Headquarters, Eleyele, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the arrests followed credible intelligence, prompting the deployment of tactical teams to apprehend those linked to cult-related activities.
He explained that the intelligence-driven operations led officers to different locations where the suspects were arrested without resistance, adding that the recovery of weapons further demonstrates the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks responsible for cult-related violence and insecurity in the state.
DSP Olayinka also appealed to residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that would help prevent crime and improve public safety.

One of the suspects, Adedapo Victor, told journalists that he was arrested after responding to a phone call from a friend who invited him to the police station. He, however, admitted to being a member of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity and confessed to serving as one of the group’s leaders.
Another suspect, Julius Oladele, also admitted belonging to the confraternity and holding a leadership position but denied involvement in killings or other violent criminal activities.
The Oyo State Police Command said investigations are ongoing and assured that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
