Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, has confirmed the evacuation of Nigeria’s first imported Ebola patient from Abuja to Switzerland for further medical care.
In a statement, Pate says the patient’s condition has improved significantly and she is now stable, conscious and able to communicate.
He added that laboratory results are approaching baseline levels but cautioned that the improvement does not necessarily mean the patient is no longer infectious.
The patient was evacuated alongside her spouse, who remains asymptomatic, under strict public health protocols.
The minister commended healthcare workers and public health personnel involved in the patient’s treatment and safe evacuation.
Pate assured Nigerians that containment measures remain in place and urged the public to remain vigilant and rely on credible sources for information on the situation.
