Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have foiled a terrorist attack and rescued two kidnapped victims during separate operations in Kaduna and Sokoto States.
The troops also arrested a suspected illicit drug peddler and recovered 157 rounds of PKT ammunition.
Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, says the operations were conducted on September 12 and 13.
In Kaduna State, troops of Sector One arrested a suspected illicit drug peddler, Yohana Musa, during a stop-and-search operation along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road.
A large quantity of suspected illicit drugs and other substances was reportedly recovered from the suspect, who remains in military custody for further investigation.
In Sokoto State, troops of Sector Two responded to a terrorist attack at Unguwan Lalle in Sabon Birni Local Government Area, engaging the attackers and forcing them to withdraw. Two kidnapped victims were rescued during the operation.
Following intelligence that the terrorists were regrouping, troops engaged them again and forced them to retreat, recovering 157 rounds of PKT ammunition, phone batteries and other items.
The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their professionalism and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces.
