Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have recorded significant successes against terrorist groups in Sokoto and Katsina states, foiling attacks, rescuing abductees and recovering weapons, motorcycles and rustled livestock.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-West, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
According to the statement, troops successfully repelled an attempted terrorist incursion into Tureta Town in Sokoto State.
The operation led to the rescue of abductees who were being moved by the terrorists during the attack.
The statement noted that the swift response by the troops prevented the criminals from carrying out their plans and ensured the safe recovery of the victims.
In a separate operation, troops acting on credible intelligence conducted a raid on a terrorist hideout in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation resulted in the neutralisation of two terrorists and the recovery of weapons, ammunition and other items linked to criminal activities.
Security operatives also recovered motorcycles and rustled livestock believed to have been taken by the terrorists during previous attacks.
The military said the operations form part of ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist networks, restore security and protect lives and property across the North-West region.
Operation Fansan Yamma reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support security efforts.
