President Bola Tinubu will attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York this September, marking his return to the annual global gathering after a two-year absence.
Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, disclosed the President’s planned participation after a meeting with Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.
According to Ibrahim, the President will use the platform to seek stronger international cooperation in enhancing border security across West Africa as the region continues to face growing security challenges.
He said Nigeria will also engage global partners on key development priorities, including energy, education and healthcare, with the aim of attracting greater international support and strengthening regional stability.
The ambassador noted that the United Nations General Assembly remains an important platform for Nigeria to deepen diplomatic relations and promote discussions on issues of national, regional and continental importance.
