President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Professor Aina will succeed Is-haq Oloyede, whose second tenure is expected to end on July 31, 2026.
The announcement was disclosed in a statement shared by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the Presidency, the appointment forms part of efforts to sustain reforms within Nigeria’s tertiary education admission system.
The statement described Aina as an academic and systems expert with experience in examination administration, digital infrastructure, and public sector reform.
Aina holds a degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, as well as postgraduate degrees in Internet Computing, Network Security, and Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University.
He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
Currently a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Aina reportedly began his career with JAMB during his National Youth Service.
The Presidency stated that he has spent more than 15 years working at the intersection of technology, policy, and institutional reform, advising government agencies on digital transformation and systems development.
He has also served as a consultant to major examination bodies, including National Examinations Council and National Business and Technical Examinations Board.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that the new registrar would build on the reforms introduced under Oloyede’s administration and further strengthen the operations of the examination body.
