The National Identity Management Commission and the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation have strengthened their partnership to implement the NIMC Act 2026 and advance Nigeria’s digital identity and paperless governance agenda.

The collaboration was reaffirmed during a working visit by NIMC Director General, Engr. Abisoye Coker Odusote, to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, in Abuja.

The initiative is aimed at enhancing digital sovereignty, improving service delivery, and ensuring greater alignment among government ministries, departments and agencies.

As part of the engagement, the Ministry of Health proposed the establishment of a joint working committee to integrate the National Identification Number into healthcare services, while the Independent National Electoral Commission announced plans to leverage NIN to improve the integrity of the national voter register.

Other government agencies also pledged closer collaboration with NIMC to expand digital identity coverage and improve citizens’ access to government services and digital opportunities.
