The National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, is strengthening partnerships with key government institutions to expand the use of secure digital identity and support the Federal Government’s Digital Public Infrastructure agenda.
As part of its ongoing engagement with Ministries, Departments and Agencies, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Engineer Abisoye Coker Odusote, visited the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, the Bank of Industry and the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Energy to explore areas of collaboration under the new NIMC Act 2026.
At the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, the NIMC boss stressed the importance of secure digital identity in improving access to government programmes and social services, particularly for women and vulnerable groups. The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to working with NIMC to ensure every Nigerian benefits from a secure and inclusive digital identity ecosystem.
At the Bank of Industry, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Olasupo Olusi, highlighted the importance of reliable identity data in supporting enterprise development and promoting a more inclusive digital economy in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The visit also took the NIMC delegation to the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Energy, where discussions focused on the role of trusted digital identity in strengthening governance, improving service delivery, supporting data driven planning and advancing secure Digital Public Infrastructure to drive sustainable economic growth.
