Nigerian Grammy winning singer Burna Boy and Colombian music icon Shakira have set a new FIFA World Cup music record after their official 2026 tournament anthem, Dai Dai, surpassed 800 million combined streams across Spotify and YouTube Music.

The milestone establishes Dai Dai as the highest performing official FIFA World Cup song throughout the 2026 tournament, cementing its status as the competition’s defining soundtrack and one of the biggest sporting anthems in recent history.

According to figures released after the tournament, the song recorded more than 200 million streams on Spotify and over 600 million views on YouTube Music, making it the most successful official World Cup anthem during the competition.

The achievement also makes Dai Dai the most viewed FIFA World Cup music video since Shakira’s La La La (Brazil 2014), underlining the Colombian superstar’s continued dominance in football themed music while marking another global milestone for Burna Boy.

Released ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Dai Dai quickly gained momentum as supporters across participating nations embraced the song during matchdays, fan festivals and victory celebrations, helping it become one of the tournament’s most recognisable cultural symbols.

The collaboration resonated with football fans worldwide, with its energetic sound and multilingual appeal contributing to its rapid rise across digital streaming platforms throughout the month long competition.

The record also crowns a historic tournament for Burna Boy, who became the first Nigerian artiste to perform at FIFA’s inaugural World Cup Final Halftime Show, further expanding his influence on the global stage.

For Shakira, whose previous FIFA World Cup songs have become synonymous with football’s biggest tournament, the latest milestone reinforces her enduring connection with the global sporting event.

With more than 800 million combined streams, Dai Dai now stands as the biggest musical success of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, highlighting the growing global appeal of African music and the power of cross cultural collaborations in shaping the soundtrack of major international sporting events.
