Drake has broken a long-standing Billboard record previously held by Michael Jackson after his latest single, Janice STFU, debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The achievement gives Drake his 14th Hot 100 number-one song as a solo male artist, moving him ahead of Michael Jackson’s previous record.
The Canadian rapper now ties Rihanna and Taylor Swift for the third-highest number of Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers overall.
Only Mariah Carey with 19 and The Beatles with 20 have recorded more number-one songs.
Drake also extended his dominance on the charts by placing 42 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 in a single week, setting a new all-time record and surpassing the previous mark held by Morgan Wallen.
His earlier personal best stood at 27 entries in 2018.
In this week’s top 10, Drake occupies nine positions, with only Ella Langley breaking the streak through her song Choosin’ Texas, which sits at number five.
The latest chart success pushes Drake’s total number of top-10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 to 90.
He has also become the first artist in Billboard history to record more than 400 career entries on the chart.
The records follow the release of three Drake albums — Iceman, Maid of Honour, and Habibti — which were released simultaneously on May 15.
The albums also achieved a historic feat by debuting at numbers one, two and three respectively on the Billboard 200 chart.
Iceman recorded 463,000 equivalent album units in its opening week, earning Drake his 15th Billboard 200 number-one album.
That milestone moved him ahead of Jay-Z for the most number-one albums by a solo male hip-hop artist.
Drake now ties Taylor Swift for the most Billboard 200 number-one albums by a solo act, behind only The Beatles’ record of 19 chart-topping albums.
