Lagos State is set to intensify efforts to address persistent electricity supply challenges through power sector reforms, infrastructure development and greater control of its energy sector.
The initiative will feature prominently at the 2026 Lagos Energy Summit, scheduled to hold from November 10 to 12.
Speaking at a press briefing, the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Biodun Ogunleye, said the summit would bring together government officials, investors and energy experts to discuss electricity sector reforms, renewable energy, energy efficiency, metering and alternative energy sources.
He added that discussions would also focus on the adoption of compressed natural gas and electric vehicles to promote cleaner transportation.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Ibilola Kasumu, said the summit would bring together stakeholders across the energy value chain to develop strategies for achieving reliable, round-the-clock electricity supply in Lagos.
She added that the proposed solutions could serve as a model for other states.
