Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has expressed confidence that more than 70,000 Rivers State residents will turn out to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his scheduled visit to the state on Saturday.
Wike made the projection after inspecting the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, where the President is expected to address supporters.
He said public enthusiasm across the state was high, expressing confidence that the turnout would exceed the stadium’s seating capacity of 40,000.
Responding to questions about previous political events where expected attendance figures were not met, the minister dismissed doubts about the projected crowd.
Wike noted that the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium has a seating capacity of 40,000, compared with the 16,000-capacity Yakubu Gowon Stadium, where candidates of the Rainbow Coalition were unveiled the previous week.
He nevertheless maintained that at least 70,000 Rivers residents would turn out to welcome Tinubu and listen to his campaign message.
Saturday’s visit will mark President Tinubu’s official return to Rivers State in his capacity as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
