The Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Jarrett Tenebe, has backed the amendment of the state’s 2023 Legislative Financial Autonomy Laws.

Tenebe says the amendment by the Edo State House of Assembly, which has been assented to by Governor Monday Okpebholo, is aimed at correcting what he describes as an anomaly in the management of public funds.

Speaking to journalists in Benin City, the APC Chairman said the changes would help ensure that the Legislature, Judiciary and Executive operate within their constitutional mandates.

At the centre of the amendment is a provision relating to the management of capital funds.

Tenebe explained that the House of Assembly did not repeal the 2023 law but introduced what he described as necessary adjustments to its provisions.

He maintained that the amendment would strengthen financial management and accountability across the three arms of government in Edo State.
