Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes has been suspended for 10 matches following his involvement in on-field clashes after Argentina’s 1-0 defeat to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final.
FIFA’s disciplinary committee also imposed a seven-match suspension on Argentina defender Nahuel Molina over his role in the incident.
The Argentine Football Association has also been ordered to play its next two home matches at 50 per cent stadium capacity, although one of the matches has been suspended.
In addition, the association was fined 321,000 dollars for breaches of FIFA’s disciplinary code.
The offences include team misconduct and the use of a sporting event for demonstrations of a non-sporting nature, as well as discriminatory chants and gestures by supporters.
