Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has presented a ₦1.85 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Rivers State House of Assembly, with a focus on economic growth, infrastructure, and improved public service delivery.
Tagged the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” the proposal represents a 24.49 per cent increase over the 2025 budget, which the governor attributed to improved Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) receipts and sustained economic growth.
The budget projects internally generated revenue of about ₦487.6 billion, FAAC allocations of over ₦936 billion, and capital receipts of about ₦382.5 billion.
Governor Fubara proposed recurrent expenditure of about ₦413.1 billion, covering salaries, new recruitment, overheads for ministries, departments and agencies, gratuities, pensions and insurance.
He also announced a 50 per cent increase in overhead allocations to ministries, departments and agencies to address rising operational costs and clear outstanding salary arrears owed to civil servants.
