The Nigerian Air Force has completed the Factory Acceptance Test for three additional AW109 Trekker Type B helicopters as part of its ongoing fleet modernisation programme.
According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the acceptance exercise was conducted between June 29 and July 3 at Leonardo Helicopters’ facility in Vergiate, Italy.
The exercise was carried out by a delegation comprising officials of the Nigerian Air Force and the Ministry of Defence to verify that the aircraft met all contractual specifications and operational requirements before delivery to Nigeria.
The Air Force said the successful completion of the acceptance test reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s air power capabilities and enhancing the operational readiness of the Armed Forces to address evolving security challenges.
The statement added that the delegation conducted detailed inspections and flight evaluations to ensure the helicopters are fully prepared for operational deployment upon arrival in Nigeria.
