The Oyo State Government has taken delivery of two surveillance aircraft in Ibadan as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and improve intelligence gathering across the state.
Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, confirmed the development in a statement, saying the arrival fulfilled the government’s earlier commitment that the aircraft would be delivered to the state before the end of July.
According to Oyelade, the acquisition represents another major step in the government’s efforts to enhance aerial surveillance and provide security agencies with additional capabilities to respond to emerging threats.
The state government had announced the purchase of the two surveillance aircraft on July 8, 2025, as part of measures to improve the operational capacity of security agencies.
Governor Seyi Makinde had also disclosed on July 18, 2026, that the aircraft had arrived in Nigeria and were undergoing reassembly at a Nigerian Air Force hangar in Lagos before their deployment to Oyo State.

The Commissioner said the government subsequently assured residents that the aircraft would arrive in the state before the end of July, a commitment that has now been fulfilled.
The aircraft are expected to support the Amotekun Corps and other security formations in conducting aerial surveillance, monitoring criminal activities, gathering intelligence and improving response operations across Oyo State.
Oyelade added that Governor Makinde was on hand at the airport to receive the two aircraft.
The deployment is expected to strengthen the state’s security architecture by providing security agencies with improved surveillance capabilities to monitor communities and respond more effectively to security challenges.
