Harry Kane has become the first Englishman in 25 years to win the men’s Ballon d’Or, claiming football’s most prestigious individual award at a ceremony in London on Monday night.
The 33-year-old Bayern Munich striker is the fifth English player to win the honour, following Stanley Matthews in 1956, Bobby Charlton in 1966 and Kevin Keegan, who won the award in 1978 and 1979. Michael Owen was the last English winner in 2001.
France international Kylian Mbappé finished second, while Barcelona and Spain forward Lamine Yamal came third.
Kane enjoyed a prolific season, scoring 61 goals in 51 appearances for Bayern Munich, the highest single-season tally by a player for the German club.
Including his appearances for England, Kane recorded 73 goals and eight assists in 65 matches, highlighting his contribution at both club and international levels.
Meanwhile, Spain midfielder Alexia Putellas won the women’s Ballon d’Or for the third time, equalling the record for the most victories in the award’s history.

Putellas captained Barcelona to Champions League glory during a quadruple-winning 2025-26 campaign before joining Women’s Super League side London City Lionesses in July.
