The Delta State Government has donated five brand-new operational vehicles to the Delta State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service to enhance its operational efficiency and strengthen the administration of justice.
The vehicles were presented by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, during a ceremony at Government House, Asaba.
Speaking at the event, Onyeme said the donation reflects the administration’s commitment to improving security and ensuring that the Correctional Service is adequately equipped to carry out its responsibilities effectively.
He noted that improved logistics and mobility are essential for efficient correctional operations and expressed confidence that the vehicles would boost the command’s operational capacity.
Responding on behalf of the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, the Delta State Controller of Corrections, Chuke Idoko, appreciated the Delta State Government for the gesture and assured that the vehicles would be put to effective use to improve service delivery.
The donation is expected to facilitate the safe and timely movement of inmates to and from courts, thereby supporting the effective administration of justice in the state.
The presentation ceremony was attended by the Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, commissioners and other senior government officials.
