Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, says his administration has saved over ₦200 billion through strict adherence to due process, transparency and prudent financial management.
The governor made the disclosure during the State Projects Delivery Meeting with stakeholders at the Government House in Uyo.
He said the savings were identified through the state’s in-house quantity surveying mechanism and have been redirected to critical development projects across the state.
Governor Eno explained that the meeting was convened to give stakeholders firsthand information on how government resources are being utilised and to reinforce his administration’s commitment to accountability and transparency.
He also cautioned against the spread of misinformation about government projects, urging the public to rely on verified information from official sources.
Highlighting key achievements, the governor listed the unveiling of the 350-bed Ibom International Hospital, the commencement of twice-weekly Ibom Air flights to Accra, ongoing aviation infrastructure upgrades, rehabilitation of the Oron Maritime infrastructure, and efforts to actualise the Ibom Deep Seaport.
On infrastructure, Eno disclosed that the administration is executing 1,305 kilometres of roads and 40 bridges across the state as part of its commitment to improving connectivity and economic development.
He also announced that Akwa Ibom received a six-million-dollar reward under the World Bank-supported State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Programme for outstanding performance in transparency, budget management and good governance, alongside an additional three million dollars under the Nigeria for Women Project.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering the ARISE Agenda and improving the lives of the people through responsible governance and sustainable development.
