Nigeria has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly explosion at the Ras Laffan Industrial Complex in Qatar, which claimed at least thirteen lives and left sixty-six others injured.

In a statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, conveyed the condolences of the Federal Government and the Nigerian people to the Government and citizens of Qatar.

She expressed sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives and wished those injured a speedy recovery.

The ministry described the incident as a painful loss not only for Qatar but also for the wider international community, given the strategic importance of the country’s energy sector to global markets.

It noted that the explosion has once again drawn attention to the need for strict industrial safety standards, emergency preparedness and the protection of workers in large-scale industrial facilities.

As investigations into the cause of the explosion continue, Nigeria reaffirmed its solidarity with Qatar during this period of mourning and expressed hope for the swift recovery of those injured.
