Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes relegation is a genuine possibility for the club following its difficult start to the season.
The Dutchman spent two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford, winning both the FA Cup and the EFL Cup before he was dismissed.
United have continued to struggle since his departure and are currently hovering just above the relegation zone under manager Michael Carrick.
The 13-time Premier League champions have not been relegated from the English top flight since 1974. However, their recent performances have raised concerns about their chances of avoiding the drop.
Speaking to newsmen, Ten Hag said relegation was “certainly possible”, pointing to the increasing strength of teams across the Premier League.
The former United manager also warned that falling into a cycle of poor results could make it extremely difficult for the club to recover.
