Newly promoted Coventry City will mark their return to the Premier League with a daunting trip to defending champions Arsenal in the opening fixture of the 2026/27 season.
The season will kick off on Friday, August 21, at the Emirates Stadium, where Coventry will play their first top-flight match in 25 years against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side, who secured their first Premier League title since 2004 last season.
Hull City, who secured promotion through the Championship play-offs, will host Manchester United on Saturday, August 22, while fellow newcomers Ipswich Town welcome Sunderland on the same day.
Manchester City will begin a new era without long-serving manager Pep Guardiola when they host Bournemouth on Sunday, August 23. Bournemouth will also start the campaign under new leadership, with Marco Rose taking charge ahead of the new season.
Liverpool’s first Premier League game under new manager Andoni Iraola will be away to Newcastle United on the same day. Iraola was appointed after leaving Bournemouth and replacing Arne Slot, whose tenure at Anfield came to an end following the conclusion of last season.
Chelsea, now under the management of Xabi Alonso, will begin their campaign with a London derby away to Fulham on Monday, August 24.
Fulham are expected to enter the new season under a new manager following the departure of Marco Silva.
The opening round of fixtures promises several intriguing storylines, including Arsenal’s title defence, Manchester City’s post-Guardiola era, Liverpool’s transition under Iraola, and the return of Coventry City to the Premier League after a 25-year absence.
