The Presidency has expressed satisfaction with the scale and quality of infrastructure development in Imo State, describing the projects inspected during the Renewed Hope Ambassadors National Media Tour as evidence of purposeful leadership and effective collaboration between the Federal and State Governments.
The tour, organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in collaboration with the Presidential Communications Team, involved members of the presidential media team and more than 40 senior journalists who visited completed and ongoing projects across the state.
Among the projects inspected was the Imo Digital City, where smartphones and laptops are being assembled, a development officials say is creating jobs for young people and positioning the state as an emerging technology and innovation hub.
The delegation also visited the ongoing 2,000-bed infectious disease centre being developed in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, as well as the proposed Heart Transplant Centre at the Imo State University Teaching Hospital in Orlu.
Other projects inspected included the expansion of the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre in Owerri, the construction of a five-star hotel and the 19-kilometre Orlu–Akokwa–Uga Border Road linking Imo and Anambra states.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, said the projects reflect the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda through investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education and human capital development.
He noted that the Orlu–Akokwa–Uga road would help tackle gully erosion while improving interstate connectivity and economic activity.
Dare also commended efforts by the Imo State Government to address accreditation and certification challenges affecting medical graduates in the state, describing the development as a boost for healthcare delivery and medical education.
The presidential aide said the projects demonstrate how increased federal allocations and cooperation between the Federal Government and states can support people-centred development.
Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, said the state would continue to prioritise projects that align with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
