Omah Lay to Remove Burna Boy From Debut Album After Assault Scandal

Date:

Nigerian emerging star Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has disclosed that he would be removing Grammy Award winner Burna Boy from his debut album Boy Alone.

Omah Lay, who just concluded his tour with American star Justin Beiber hinted this during a question-and-answer session on Instagram and confirmed that Burna Boy was featured on the project.

The young singer however said he was removing Burna Boy from the project when a fan asked, “Is Burna on da album?” to which Omah Lay replied, “E dey but I go remove am.”

Omah Lay has been teasing fans with the featured artists on the album which would drop on the 24th of June. Although he did not give any reason as to why he was taking Burna Boy off the project, his decision comes just days after Burna Boy was involved in a shooting scandal.

A policeman securing Burna Boy shot fun seekers at Cubana nightclub in Lagos last week after he made a pass at a married woman who was accompanied by her husband. The self-proclaimed “African Giant” was said to have been heavily drunk and acted irresponsibly when he attacked the newlywed couple, according to a police report.

The husband of the woman had resisted Burna Boy’s attempt to demean him, which led to chaos at the club as the singer’s police guards assailed the husband and fired shots into the air. Reports suggest that both the husband and his friend were hit by the shooting.

Buna Boy however is understood to have fled the scene and hasn’t made any comment about the incident.
