The Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has commended the Edo State Government for what it described as the peaceful, free, fair and credible conduct of the recent local government election.
The commendation came during a courtesy visit to Governor Monday Okpebholo at the Government House in Benin City.
Governor Okpebholo said the peaceful conduct of the election has provided the stability needed for his administration to focus on development across the state.
IPAC Edo State Chairman, Bishop Akhalamhe, praised the conduct of the poll and pledged the council’s continued collaboration with the state government and the newly elected local councils.
With the election concluded, the council says attention must now shift to effective governance at the grassroots, with the newly elected council chairmen expected to deliver development and improved services to residents.
The success of the election, however, will ultimately be measured not only by the conduct of the polls, but by the quality of leadership and development delivered by the new councils.
