Inuwa Yahaya Pushes for Federal Road Projects in Gombe

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has intensified efforts to secure Federal Government intervention on major road projects considered critical to the economic development of Gombe State and the wider North-East.

Governor Yahaya met with the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, in Abuja, where discussions focused on the Gombe-Biu axis of the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Maiduguri Super Highway.

The governor called for the early commencement and timely completion of the Gombe-Biu section, following the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the project.

He also pushed for the consideration of new northern and southern bypasses around Gombe metropolis. The proposed routes are expected to ease traffic pressure, improve connections to the super highway and facilitate the movement of people and goods.

Responding, Umahi described the Gombe-Biu Super Highway as a priority project of the President Bola Tinubu administration and assured the governor that his request regarding the commencement point would be considered.

The minister also expressed confidence in Hitech Construction Company, the contractor handling the project.

Umahi commended Governor Yahaya’s development drive, saying his recent visit to Gombe gave him a better appreciation of infrastructure development in the state.

The governor also renewed calls for federal attention to other strategic roads, including the Gombe-Bajoga-Potiskum, Gombe-Dukku-Darazo and Gombe-Bauchi corridors.

The state government says the roads are vital economic links connecting farmers to markets, communities to commercial centres and Gombe to neighbouring states.
