Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has clarified that Nigerians applying for international passports under the ongoing special intervention exercise in the United Kingdom will not pay any additional charges.

The Minister says the exercise was introduced to provide more options for Nigerians in the UK and address difficulties experienced during passport application and processing.

According to Tunji-Ojo, the official fees remain 150 dollars for a five-year passport and 230 dollars for a ten-year passport, excluding bank charges.

He says neither the Ministry of Interior nor the Nigeria Immigration Service has introduced any additional fees for the special intervention exercise.

The Minister also disclosed that consultations are ongoing with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address challenges experienced by applicants during the process.

Nigerians in the UK have also been encouraged to take advantage of the contactless biometric passport application system.
