The Nigeria Immigration Service has deployed a special Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to improve passport services for Nigerians living in the country.

The team, deployed on the directive of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is expected to work with the Nigerian High Commission to process pending applications, new passport requests and renewals.

The intervention, which begins on August 10, will cover designated cities across the UK to make passport enrolment and processing more accessible to Nigerians.

According to the NIS, Nigerians with pending applications, first-time applicants and passport holders with less than one year before expiration are eligible to participate.

Applicants will be required to present completed application forms and evidence of payment during enrolment.

The Immigration Service says details of the cities, venues, dates and enrolment times will be announced separately and has advised applicants not to visit any location until an official schedule is released.

The NIS says its existing digital passport services, including the Contactless Passport Application System and home delivery service, will remain operational throughout the intervention.
