Fidelity Bank Plc has appointed veteran banker Jonathan Oniovosa Ososuakpor as a Non-Executive Director of the bank.
The appointment took effect from May 22, 2026, following approval by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
In a statement signed by the bank’s Company Secretary, Ezinwa Unuigboje, Fidelity Bank confirmed that relevant regulatory agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, had been duly notified.
The bank stated that it looks forward to leveraging Dr. Ososuakpor’s extensive experience in advancing its strategic goals and long-term growth plans.
Dr. Ososuakpor brings over four decades of experience in the banking and financial services sector, with expertise spanning retail banking, credit and marketing, commercial banking, public sector banking, operations, and risk management.
He began his banking career in 1983 at Union Bank of Nigeria and later worked with several financial institutions, including former Gateway Bank, Ecobank Nigeria, Oceanic Bank, and Intercontinental Bank, now part of Access Bank Plc.
Before retiring in July 2025, he served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AMJU Unique Microfinance Bank Limited, a role he held since 2012.
Beyond banking, Dr. Ososuakpor has served in several leadership positions across the corporate sector, including as Chairman of Universal Finance Consult & Investment Limited and V-Capital Consulting Limited.
He currently chairs the board of Top Rank Oil Services Limited, an engineering services company operating within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
Dr. Ososuakpor holds academic qualifications in banking, finance, economics, and business administration from institutions including the University of Benin, Delta State University, and Bangor University.
He is also a fellow of several professional bodies in banking, economics, taxation, and risk management, and has participated in executive development programmes at institutions including the London Business School and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research.
