France coach Didier Deschamps has warned his players not to underestimate Sweden when the two sides meet in the Round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup tonight.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference at MetLife Stadium on Monday, Deschamps said Sweden have nothing to lose and will be highly motivated to secure a place in the next round.
He urged his players to remain humble, determined and fully focused, stressing that unlike the group stage, there are no second chances in the knockout phase of the tournament.
Deschamps returned to France’s training base in Boston on Saturday after missing his side’s 4-1 victory over Norway to attend his mother’s funeral in France.
