The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has adjourned the trial of social media influencer and relationship therapist, Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO, to July 20, 2026, after she failed to appear in court.
Blessing CEO is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a two count charge bordering on alleged obtaining by false pretence and theft involving ₦36 million.
At the resumed hearing before Justice D.I. Dipeolu, defence counsel, P.I. Nwafuru, informed the court that officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service had notified him that his client was ill and unable to attend the proceedings.
The defence subsequently applied for an adjournment, assuring the court that a medical report would be presented at the next hearing.
Justice Dipeolu granted the application and adjourned the case until Monday, July 20, 2026, for the continuation of trial.
According to one of the charges, Blessing CEO allegedly obtained ₦36 million from Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye between July 14 and 17, 2024, under the pretext of leasing a six bedroom detached duplex located at No. 1B, Tunbosun Osobu Street, off Kuboye Road, Lekki, Lagos.
The EFCC alleged that the representation was false and that the defendant knew it to be false at the time of the transaction.
The anti graft agency said the alleged offence contravenes Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.
