The Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) has warned that organisations and individuals engaging unlicensed project managers risk prosecution and possible jail terms.
The Registrar-General of the Institute, Mr. Henry Mbadiwe, gave the warning at the closing ceremony of the Institute’s 7th Induction Conference in Abuja.
He said the enforcement drive is aimed at improving project delivery standards, reducing waste and ensuring value for money in both public and private sector projects.
Mbadiwe stressed that only certified and licensed professionals should be entrusted with managing projects, noting that the Institute is committed to sanitising the profession and promoting best practices in project implementation.
Chairman of the Governing Board of the Institute, High Chief Olabode Emmanuel Afolayan, said the era of executing projects without adherence to professional standards must come to an end.
He noted that the Institute remains committed to building the capacity of its members to support national development through effective project management.
Also speaking, Executive Assistant to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Olusegun Sanwo-Olu, highlighted the importance of certified project managers in driving economic growth and national transformation.
Stakeholders at the conference emphasised the need for professionalism, accountability and adherence to global best practices in project management to ensure the successful delivery of projects across the country.
