Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign former England striker Danny Welbeck, while Jordan Henderson has terminated his contract with Brentford ahead of a proposed move to Stamford Bridge.
Henderson, 36, was under contract with Brentford until 2027 but is now a free agent, clearing the way for Chelsea to complete a deal for the experienced midfielder.
Welbeck, 35, has agreed a two-year contract with Chelsea and has been granted permission by Brighton to undergo a medical.
Although the transfer fee has not been disclosed, Chelsea have finalised terms for the striker to join the squad following Saturday’s pre-season fixture against Tottenham Hotspur in Australia.
The Blues will then travel to Hong Kong as preparations continue for the new season.
