Arsenal are intensifying their pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes after the Brazil international reportedly informed the club of his desire to leave this summer.
The 28-year-old, who joined Newcastle from Lyon in 2022, has emerged as a key midfield target for Mikel Arteta’s side as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Arsenal had previously considered moves for either Guimaraes or former Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali, who has since completed a move to Tottenham.
Reports indicate that discussions with Guimaraes’ representatives suggested a transfer fee in the region of £60 million, although Newcastle are yet to receive a formal offer from the Premier League champions.
Arsenal are now expected to step up negotiations as they look to secure the Brazilian midfielder, who recently featured for his country at the FIFA World Cup, where Brazil were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Norway.
