The Edo State Government has announced a ₦40 million grant pool for outstanding youth-led businesses at the second edition of the Edo Youth Impact Forum, EYIF 2.0.
The two-day forum, held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City, brought together young entrepreneurs, government representatives and industry stakeholders under the theme, “Ideas, Capital, Impact.”
Organisers say 2,388 applications were received for the youth grants, with external judges engaged in the selection process to ensure transparency and fairness.
Secretary to the Edo State Government, Umar Ikhilor, who represented Governor Monday Okpebholo, encouraged young people in the state to take centre stage and make an impact wherever they find themselves.
A major highlight of the forum was the presentation of cheques to successful beneficiaries. The grants are expected to support businesses at different stages, from idea development to growth and expansion.
Participants also received skills training, mentorship and opportunities to connect with potential markets and investors.
The Edo State Government says the initiative is part of efforts to equip young people with the skills and resources to create jobs, build sustainable businesses and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
