Technology is creating new opportunities for communication and empowerment, but the digital space is also increasingly being used to harass, threaten and exploit women and girls.
The Edo State Government has unveiled a new policy framework to tackle Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence and strengthen protection for vulnerable groups.
The policy, unveiled at the Government House by the Office of the First Lady, focuses on digital safety, privacy and survivor-centred support.
It is also aimed at improving prevention, reporting and coordinated response to different forms of gender-based violence carried out through digital technologies.
Stakeholders say effective implementation will require stronger collaboration among government institutions, security agencies and other relevant organisations.
They say the initiative will also improve support for survivors while promoting a safer digital environment for women, girls and other vulnerable groups across Edo State.
